Welcome to IAM
First a few words about the genesis of Indian Academy of Management (IAM). For years, many of us had talked about the need for a platform for scholars doing research related to India, to exchange ideas and share resources.
In 2007, we took the first tentative step towards the formation of this body by organising a caucus at the Academy of Management (AOM) meetings in Philadelphia. The response was overwhelmingly positive, and we had an outstanding exchange of ideas on making the dream a reality. A few of us were charged with working towards this, and at the follow-up caucus at the 2008 Annual AOM meetings in Anaheim, we reported the progress, and agreed to keep moving towards the goal of creation of the IAM. The affiliation of IAM with AOM made a massive stride at the AOM Meetings 2009 & 2010, where representatives of IAM met with senior colleagues of AOM (Past and incoming Presidents of AOM and other members). |
